Slovakia (5)

Slovakia features wonderful diverse landscape that includes mountains, caves, medieval castles and towns, folk architecture, spa and ski resorts. The Slovakian landscape is interesting primarily for its highlands, namely the Carpathian Mountains covering most of the northern part of the country. Amongst these mountains ranges are the high peaks of the Tatra mountains. The High Tatras extended to the north, which form natural border with Poland, are home to many scenic lakes and valleys.

Slovakia is well known as one of the countries with a very high number of fortified castles. The best known castles are the Bojnice Castle, showing in many international movies, Spiš Castle, the largest fortified castle in Europe on the UNESCO list, Orava Castle, Bratislava Castle and the ruins of the Devín Castle.

Slovakia is a member state of the European Union and NATO as well as other international organizations.
