Křivoklát

Gothic castle from the middle of the 13th century built by the king Wenceslas I. Charles IV. spent his childhood here. The castle was rebuilt in the 19th century. It also off ers an exhibition of Gothic sculptures and paintings. The castle is hidden in the middle of the mixed woodland protected by UNESCO.

Renaissance chateau dating from 1556. It is owned by the Roudnice branch of the Lobkowicz family. We would like to invite you to visit the gallery „Six centuries of European art“ and the Knight’s Hall there any day except Mondays. In the settlement under the chateau you can see the family house of the composer Antonín Dvořák. A special off er is lunch/dinner, given as requested in the Hapsburgs’ Hall.

Kutná hora and the Ossuary in Sedlec. Kutná hora is an UNESCO`s listed medieval town located in once prosperous silver mining area, famous for its Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara, its beautiful houses, and the medieval mint. Sedlec, a small 13th century town, which is not far from here, is also worth a closer look because of its Gothic church ornamented with 40 000 human bones.

Červená LhotaČervená Lhota

An original Gothic water fortress from the 14th century went through Renaissance, Baroque and modern style adaptations. In 1641 the chateau was acquired by the Slavata family who installed a new red roof which gave the chateau its name (Red Lhota in English). The romantic chateau is located on the rock in the middle of a lake surrounded by an English park.

Holašovice

An exceptionally complete and unique well-preserved example of a traditional central European village. It has a large number of outstanding 18th- and 19th-century vernacular buildings in a style known as ‘South Bohemian folk Baroque’, and preserves a ground plan dating from the Middle Ages – rural buildings concentrated around the circular green. Holašovice is like a folk architecture, open air museum and is also on the UNESCO list.

Telč and Slavonice are other UNESCO´s listed places. Slavonice is the most beautiful medieval city with a unique complex of late Gothic and Renaissance houses.

Lednice and Valtice

UNESCO jewels in Southern Moravia. Lednice is a pseudo gothic chateau from the 17th century with a preserved riding-school. There is also a park with a minaret from 1798 and a well-known greenhouse from 1843. Valtice, a large baroque complex of chateau buildings, was built in 1643. There are richly decorated interiors and a landscaped park with a theatre.
